- Air Force background with a long career in training and education.
- Co-founded Veritas Tactical, later acquired by Security With Advanced Technology.
- Worked in non-lethal weapons development and military training.
- Supported the USMC Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor Program at Camp Pendleton.
- Taught women's self-defense and rape prevention at Concordia College in St. Paul.
